The monthly meeting of the
Chennai Chapter was held on July 24, 2009. Close to one hundred
members were present for the meeting, at which Mr. H.N.Shrinivas,
Senior Vice President – Human Resources, Taj Hotels was the guest
speaker. Mr. Shrinivas spoke about “Leading in a Crisis”, drawing on
his recent experiences with the Taj Hotels.

Mr. Vinod Hari from the Isha Foundation spoke about their unique
‘Project Greenhands’ through which one lakh trees will be planted in
Chennai before the end of the year. The Annual General Meeting of
the Chennai Chapter was also conducted after the monthly meeting. |

Annual General
Meeting of the Chennai Chapter

The 3rd AGM of the HRD Network’s Chennai Chapter was held at Hotel
Savera on July 24th. Mr. Gopinath, Chapter Secretary, invited Mr.
David Nallathambi, Chapter President to chair the meeting after
ensuring that the quorum for the AGM had been met. Mr. David
Nallathambi made a brief presentation on the achievements of the
Chapter during the year 2008-09, which included the successful
hosting of the 12th National Conference of the NHRDN at Chennai, as
well as the Chapter becoming the first Chapter of the NHRDN in the
country to obtain the ISO certification. Ms. Devika Dharmaraj, the
Chapter Treasurer then presented the audited accounts for the year
2008-09, which was unanimously adopted by the AGM, as also the
appointment of M/s V.Margasahayam and Co., as the auditors of the
Chapter. Ms. Devika Dharmaraj spoke about the plans of the Chennai
Chapter to acquire its own office space.
As the Chairperson of the meeting, Mr. David Nallathambi informed
all the members about the rules for election of Office Bearers and
Committee Members of the Chapter. The nominations for the different
posts were made by members present and in keeping with the tradition
of the Network, all those proposed were elected unanimously. The
President-Elect, Mr. R.Shantaram then spoke about the need to drive
higher membership and to make the activities of the Chapter more
inclusive and networking-friendly. Mr. Shyam C.Raman, the
Secretary-Elect of the Chapter thanked the outgoing Office Bearers
and the Committee. The AGM was then concluded with vote of thanks to
the chair. |
