NHRDN Chennai - 'OutLearn' Programme

Admin 15/May/2009 1473 0

Dear Team NHRD Chennai Chapter:

Congratulations for a job very well done. The programme was thoughtfully organised and this resulted in a delightful outing.

I could go on about what went off well - the travel arrangements, organisation by the host companies, pre-programme coordination... However, I shall cover what I think we can do to improve the learning experience during the next trip.

1 We could provide an outline to the hosts on what they could cover during the initial briefing, before the plant tour. It is difficult to hear above the noise in the plant, and the young technicians on the shop-floor can't be expected to be expert presenters. Perhaps, the briefing could cover the layout of the plant and the sequence of our tour, the process flow, an exploded figure of the product being produced (so that we can appreciate how it comes together and what is produced in-house versus sourced from outside), inventory control measures and quality management systems. All these details are available - they just need to be put together.

2 After the plant tour, a Q & A session devoted to HR issues is important.

3 Scheduling the trip on a holiday for the host's HR Department may be reviewed; they would naturally be reluctant to spend more than the bare necessary time for us.

Keep up the good work.

Best regards,

S. Arvind

HR Outlearn program - Nokia / Mando

Guest 10/May/2009 1408 0

Hi,

First of all we would like to thank the NHRD Chennai Chapter organizing committee for arranging the outlearn program to Nokia and Mando.

It was indeed a great learning experience especially for us from the IT field. The hospitality / support and the knowledge shared by the host companies were appreciable.

The program was very well organized and planned. Apart from the learnings we also got the opportunity to interact with the HR professionals which apparently added value.

We are looking forward for more such programs. Once again a big thanks to HNRD Chennai Chapters.

Thanks

Professional Talk with HR Stalwats

Guest 28/May/2008 1380 0

Dear and Respected friends,

Message from Saravana, Student, MSSW (Madras School of Social Work).

This message tries to inform the HR fraternity about an activity started by the MSW (Master of Social Work) students of the MSSW (Madras School of Social Work) called THE SUNDAY TALK (TST). The aim of TST is to initiate an interaction between the HR students and the industry practitioners who are an inspiration for HR students.

The students interview an eminent HRM, CD (Community Development) or M&P (Medical & Psychiatry) professional every Sunday and post the interview in their blog (www.thesundaytalk.blogspot.com). This gives the students a greater clarity in understanding the HR theory and to relate it with the reality. The Sunday Talk also aims to build a healthy professional relationship between the HR students and the field experts.

I kindly request you to lend your support to the students by visiting the blog and by posting your valuable comments and suggestions.

Thank you!
